Experience Unforgettable Adventures in Our Panamanian Paradise
At Isla Palenque we believe that every hour is precious, and we're committed to helping you make the most of every minute. Thanks to our coveted location, there will be no need to travel for hours (or even minutes) to indulge in your favorite adventure sports. Traverse our 240-acre nature preserve from the forest floor to the canopy walk. Cast off to explore the Pacific by boat or kayak. Learn about the wildlife, how to cook authentic local cuisine, or take a yoga class on the beach. Isla Palenque offers so many opportunities for jungle and ocean adventures, you could never exhaust them in one visit.
World-class sportfishing is something the Gulf is already famous for. An abundance of tuna, marlin, sailfish, swordfish, snapper, dorado, grouper, wahoo and many more big game fish make every day a thrilling day to cast out. Avid sport fisherman won't find a better jumping-off point than Isla Palenque.
Cast Off
The Gulf of Chiriqui has exceptional snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities -- in the neighboring national marine park, at Islas Secas just 45 minutes away, and at world-class scuba site, Isla Coiba. While diving and snorkeling, you'll likely encounter humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and schools of rays and fish.
Dive In
Humpback whales have been summering in the Gulf of Chiriqui for centuries. See dolphins jump and whales breach on a whale-watching excursion - during the best months, such as September and October, whale sightings are guaranteed. Whales and dolphins, as well as leaping rays, are often spotted from our beaches.
Whale Watching
The Gulf of Chiriqui is full of dozens of uninhabited islands just waiting to be explored. Spend the day boating or kayaking to nearby islands or islets such as Isla Bolanos and Isla Gamez to hike, explore and relax on an island you can call your own for the day.
Island Hopping
Just a boat ride away is Moro Negrito, a Panama island devoted to surfing and surfing only. On this small island you will find a few grass huts, dozens of surf boards, a couple instructors hanging loose, and over 20-foot swells.
Hang Ten
Our nature preserve spans 240 acres - over half of the island. We're carefully creating miles of inland trails so you can safely navigate the wild jungle that has been preserved in its natural state for centuries. We'll be happy to set you up for a self-guided tour or with an expert guide.
Jungle Trek
Catch a glimpse of howler monkeys, jungle cats, iguanas and dozens of other animals in our rare primary tropical dry forest.
Wildlife
From the treetops, you can look a howler monkey in the eye and glimpse the ocean through bromeliad-laden branches. Our Observation Tower and Canopy Walk give you a vantage point up in the treetops to witness the spectacle of the rainforest.
Observation Tower & Canopy Walk
Spot colorful tropical birds - Panama has over 900 different species - and listen for their exotic birdsongs.
Birding
Amble for miles down our coastal trails, or blaze your own to discover rocky volcanic outcroppings, coconut palms growing at a 45-degree angle toward the sun, intense prop roots of ancient trees, peaceful lagoons ringed with mangroves, and waves that change with every curve of the shoreline.
Along the Coast
Isla Palenque has almost a mile and a half of beaches: 12 in all on the island, ranging from secluded pebble beaches, to exotic sandy nooks, to our grand, three-quarters of a mile long, crescent-shaped Playa Palenque with its soft volcanic sand.
Twelve Beaches
The island's deep peace and seclusion are the perfect place to practice ancient meditation techniques and yoga. We have an instructor on site so you can practice on the island's private beaches and in shady palm groves.
